Feyenoord still top of the pile

It’s been a remarkable season for Feyenoord, who sit three points clear at the top of the Eredivisie ahead of this weekend’s games, helped by a run of seven wins from 11 home matches.

Indeed, they are unbeaten at Stadion Feijenoord in the league so far, with their other four outings there all square, not a bad record as you seek to end a six year wait for the Dutch title.

Manager Arne Slot, who was linked with the Leeds job, has built a solid team who have conceded just six goals at home, keeping half a dozen clean sheets in the process. This game should be theirs to lose.

Groningen up against it

In their way will be struggling Groningen, who sit second bottom in the table and have won just once on the road all season.

Dennis van der Ree is in charge, having taken the reigns, initially on an interim basis, in December, but their away form has been catastrophic under his guidance, losing four in a row on their travels in 2023.

The 43-year old, who worked with Feyenoord last season, has been unable to get them scoring more goals either, with their total of eight away from home the joint-second lowest in the division.
