Feyenoord To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Roma are the only team who have scored against Feyenoord in the Rotterdam club’s last nine matches and it is difficult to see second-tier Groningen making a dent in that record, so take the team who are second in Eredivisie to win to nil

Feyenoord 3-0

Reason for tip

Feyenoord should have few problems outclassing a team who were desperately short when they were relegated from the Eredivisie last season, so take the Rotterdam outfit to claim a comfortable 3-0 victory

Feyenoord vs Groningen Predictions

  • Feyenoord have not lost at home since December 3
  • The home side have conceded just once in their last six matches
  • Groningen collected just one point from their final Eredivisie games before relegation last season

Feyenoord should be in the driving seat

Feyenoord have their work cut out if they are going to close the ten-point gap they have between them and leaders PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie title race, but they should have few problems progressing to the next round of the KNVB Cup.

The Rotterdam outfit bounced back from the disappointment of their exit from the Europa League to Roma on penalties by beating Almere City 2-0 on Sunday and the Italians are the only team to have scored against them in their last nine matches.

Their last defeat came against PSV on December 3, but they have beaten their championship rivals in the cup since and have proved difficult to break down in the top flight, so a team from the Eerste Divisie are likely to have problems getting on the scoresheet here.

Groningen up against it

Groningen have settled down since their relegation last season and are fifth in the second-tier after some decent defensive performances.

They have kept four straight clean sheets, but it is hard to escape the fact that they were constantly outclassed in the second half of last season before their relegation and facing the second best team in the Netherlands is a daunting prospect.

It would be a surprise if they managed to lay a glove on their illustrious opponents, so take Feyenoord to win with out conceding, while a 3-0 home victory may be of interest to those looking for a correct-score interest.
