Hosts to return to winning ways in Helsinki

Finland are without a victory in five going into this Friday’s clash against Estonia but Markku Kanerva’s men are fancied to return to winning ways in Helsinki.

The Finns have suffered something of a downturn after qualifying so impressively for Euro 2020 and head into this contest on the back of a 2-0 loss in Sweden at the weekend.

That result followed recent defeats to Wales and Switzerland along with draws against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine, and Kanerva’s charges desperately need a confidence booster here to take into this summer’s finals where they’ll be amongst the rank outsiders.

Despite their poor form, Finland have still won four of their last six at home and we think they can beat Estonia without conceding a goal in Helsinki this week, just as they did twice in the 2018 UEFA Nations League (both meetings 1-0).

The visitors have lost seven of their last nine away trips, failing to score in six, so the Finns are unlikely to be given too much trouble en route to a cosy success.
