Fiorentina are back. Vincenzo Italiano’s men have won four games in a row to cast aside their dire run of just one victory in their previous 10 outings, after seeing off lowly Sampdoria on Sunday. La Viola also appear to have re-found their shooting boots after struggling in front of goal earlier this season, and that means entertainment is expected when they host Salernitana, who have featured in several thrilling contests recently.

Indeed, Fiorentina have hit multiple goals in all four of their consecutive wins (a total of nine), and have now found the net 21 times in their last nine games. In their 10 outings previous to that, Italiano’s men scored a measly tally of five goals. Only Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan have taken more shots than Fiorentina in Serie A this campaign, and only six sides have managed more shots on target, so their improved form in front of goal appears to be a return to normality.

Salernitana, however, could play their part in an intriguing affair. Davide Nicola’s team sit in the top half of Serie A after taking 10 points from their last five games, though they were frustrated in a 2-2 draw with Cremonese on home soil last time out. However, Nicola’s men beat Lazio comprehensively a week earlier, and have seen over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine games, hitting multiple goals five times during that sequence.

Only seven Serie A sides have bettered Salernitana’s tally of 18 goals this season, but only five (all in the bottom six of the table) have conceded more than their 19. With Nicola’s inconsistent side facing an in-form Fiorentina attack, over 2.5 match goals is our main tip.
