FK Austria Vienna vs Fenerbahce Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Austria Vienna’s last three contests.
  • Both teams have scored in three of Fenerbahce’s last four games.
  • Fenerbahce have drawn four of their last eight Europa League games, three of which finished 1-1.

Fenerbahce yet to take off under new coach

Jorge Jesus’ Fenerbahce spell is yet to really take off and another draw could be on the cards when the Yellow Canaries take on Austria Vienna in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.

A two-time runner-up in the Europa League with Benfica, Jesus saves his best for continental competitions having won the Copa Libertadores during his solitary year with Flamengo. During that 2019 success, his team ground out 1-1 away draws in the quarter and semi-finals that ultimately set them up to progress at home.

A first-leg stalemate here has to be strong consideration given Fener will fancy their chances of finishing off the job when they get the Austrians back to the Şükrü Saracoğlu. The Violets finished third in the Austrian Bundesliga last term and flopped in the Conference League qualifying rounds to Icelandic outfit Breidablik.

Hosts have to give it a go

It would take some effort for them to knock Fenerbahce out and they might even consider a face-saving draw in the home leg a decent result given away goals no longer count. It certainly should convince them to attack in a bid to give the Turkish visitors a scare and it could lead to an entertaining affair.

Both teams have scored in Austria Vienna’s last three contests and in three of Fenerbahce’s last four games, so there’s reason to believe it could land here. Jesus has overseen four draws in his first five games in charge of Fener, so it looks like they aren’t always able to force the issue as they might like.

The Turkish Super Lig outfit have drawn four of their last eight games in this competition, three of which finished 1-1, so that’s an obvious choice in correct score betting.
