Stubborn Flamengo to show their steel

Brazilian Serie A leaders Flamengo are rated the best of the non-European contenders at the Club World Cup and they should have too much quality for Esperance de Tunis, who claimed a record-extending 34th Tunisian league title in 2024-25.

Flamengo’s success has been built on strong defensive foundations and their strong start in Serie A has seen them lose only one of their opening 11 games, with them conceding just four goals.

Carlo Ancelotti’s first squad as Brazil manager saw him select five Flamengo players, which shows the high regard that they are held in, and the addition of former Chelsea and Arsenal man Jorginho has injected some experience into their squad.

Esperance may be out of their depth
