Forest Green Rovers vs Morecambe Predictions
We are approaching the half way point of the season and, although there is still plenty of time to turn things around, for some sides in League Two, last weekend’s break for the FA Cup was a welcome distraction. That is true of struggling Morecambe, but now they have to concentrate on their battle to retain their spot in the Football League as they make the trip to face off against a Forest Green side who have proven to be difficult to beat for many sides in the division so far.
Forest Green need a win to stay in touch with League 2’s top six following a 2-1 defeat at Lincoln City in their last league game. That defeat to the league leaders was only the second time they have left a stadium empty handed in England’s fourth tier this season, and given that no side has left The New Lawn with all three points so far, the hosts should be confident in their ability to claim a vital win. However, Rovers are without a win in their last three matches in all competitions, so they will be determined to end this recent blip in form as soon as possible.
Jim Bentley takes his Morecambe side to Forest Green in the hope of extending the Shrimps’ unbeaten run to three League 2 matches. It has been a story of positivity for the side which have been tipped to struggle by most analysts this term and they also go into this match having claimed an impressive eight points from their previous four away matches in the league. However, their lack of firepower was highlighted in their previous six outings which has seen them find the back of the net just three times.
Despite the recent improvement in from shown by Morecambe, the late defeat in the Checkatrade Trophy at the hands of Sunderland will have been a difficult pill to swallow. The hosts are the favourites for good reason in this clash, however the odds on offer means that we have to look for a bit of value. Given the Shrimps lack of quality in front of goal of late, we think backing the hosts to win to nil represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
