France vs Bolivia Predictions
Can Bolivia cause a major shock in their clash with the world champions this weekend? They are preparing for a tough group at the Copa America this summer, as they’ve been drawn with host Brazil. They are aiming to warm up with a result against the reigning World Cup winners in this friendly in Nantes. However, can France build themselves up for a visit to Turkey by claiming a comfortable victory?
The hosts once again have a star-studded squad, while the future for them looks bright. Not only are there plenty of young talents in the side, but their Under 20 side are also among the frontrunners for World Cup glory in Poland this month. We could be seeing France dominate world football for many years to come, especially when they’ve made a rampant start to 2019 with two comfortable wins.
It’s hard to be optimistic for Bolivia going into their clash on Sunday. The South Americans are without a win in six internationals, which included defeats to nil in their clashes with Japan and South Korea in March. They’ve now failed to score in four of their last five matches, which has included blanks against Iraq and the UAE.
Bolivia should be in for a tough game here. This French squad is so strong that even a rotated team would have far too much going for them. France have won two from two in 2019, seeing off Iceland 4-0 and Moldova 4-1. We expect another victory for France here, given that Bolivia’s last friendly in Europe – in June 2018 – saw them lose 5-1 at Serbia. With the visitors bringing a squad lacking any major international talent, we’re backing France to win with a -2 handicap here.
Olivier Giroud may not be France’s most glamourous goalscorer, but he’s an incredibly successful one. He’s hit 35 goals for his nation, a tally only bettered by Michael Platini (41) and Thierry Henry (51). That has put him in among some of the country’s best players, thanks to scoreing in France’s last three games. He scored in each clash in the European Qualifiers in March and so he comes into this game with some form behind him.
His limited game time with Chelsea means Giroud is among the freshest players in the squad, while he’s also a reliable scorer. He was the top scorer in the Europa League this term, while he scored in back to back games for Chelsea to finish the season. We see him adding to his impressive tally against Bolivia as he closes in on Platini’s tally.
