It’s been a solid start to the season for Mainz, who have picked up ten of the first 18 points available (W3, D1, L2). In fact, they’ve not picked up more than that at this stage of a season since recording maximum points after six games back in 2010/11 on the way to a fifth-placed finish!

Such lofty expectations aren’t likely this time around, although a home clash with struggling Hertha could help to reignite Mainz’s momentum after losing two of their last three league matches.
