Fylkir Reykjavik vs KR Reykjavik Predictions

Fylkir may have a positive recent record against this opponent, but there is nothing positive about the season that they’re currently enduring. The hosts arrive at this juncture having lost each of their last three fixtures, while they’re now second from bottom in the table. They’ve struggled to defend astutely, while they’ve not quite been good enough in front of goal. Helgi Sigurðsson’s side have managed to find the net in each of their last two, though defensive issues have rendered such goals obsolete.

KR Reykjavik haven’t exactly been thriving during the current campaign, though it’s fair to say that they’ve done better than Monday’s opponents, so they ought to fancy their chances, especially since they won their last away match by four goals to nil.

Fylkir are in a rather dismal league position and things haven’t been going well, though their home form, somewhat remarkably, hasn’t been too bad at all. The hosts come into this fixture having won three of their four home matches this season. Defensively, things haven’t been great, but they’ve fortunately had enough about them offensively to get results. Against a visiting team who do concede plenty of goals, eight in six on the road this season, the scoring form of Sigurðsson’s men, who’ve scored eight goals in four matches on home soil, bodes well.

The hosts have scored at least twice in each of their four home matches this season, though what is really positive is the fact that they’re notching goals against teams who, like KR, are poor at the back. However, Fylkir have conceded in all but one of their four home games, while they looked all over the place when losing 3-2 in front of a home crowd last time out. They’ve absolutely done enough to suggest that they can hurt the visitors, though expecting them to do so whilst keeping things tight probably isn’t wise.

From a defensive point of view, KR have struggled on their travels this season. They’ve kept just a single clean sheet, while they’ve conceded a worrying total of eight goals in their other five. Having said that, they too have shown themselves to be capable going forward, as they’ve failed to score in just one of their six travelling matches during the current campaign. They may continue to find it tough defensively, though breaching a similarly weak defence isn’t likely to be all that hard.

Having seen the other falter at the back of late, both teams are expected to see this as a winnable game, which means the fans in attendance at Fylkisvöllur should see an open encounter unfold. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time. Keeping this in mind, alongside the respective offensive and defensive record of the pair, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’, a bet that has yielded a profit in 75% of Fylkir’s home matches this season, is the way to go.
