      Gais vs Sirius Predictions

GAIS are turning out to be a very difficult side to beat this season, and if they could just improve their winning mentality they would be a promising outfit for a challenge for promotion.

They come into this game having not lost any of their last seven matches in the Swedish Superettan, but with just two wins to their name during this period their points tally is lacking a bit. They lost two of their opening four matches, and this puts their points tally at 15 from their first 11 games.

Things are tight in that department of the Superettan table as well, so a win could push them from 8th to 5th, whereas a defeat could see them drop down to 10th. Either way it’s looking like an improvement on their 11th place finish last term.

Sirius finished last season in 3rd position and qualified for the promotion playoffs against Ostersunds FK, but heartbreakingly lost on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

This hasn’t knocked them too much though, and they definitely look like they will be up there challenging for promotion again this term. They come into this match in 3rd position again with 21 points from their opening 11 games, four adrift of leaders Halmstads, two behind AFC United in 2nd, and two in front of 4th placed Dalkard.

They are in good form as well. Sirius started the season with back to back wins before losing against Dalkurd and then drawing three consecutive matches, but since then they have won four of their last five matches. They did lose away to Varlberg recently though, but their 6-0 hammering of Degerfors indicates that they have what it takes to win matches comprehensively.

GAIS won’t be easy to beat though. The hosts are on an excellent unbeaten streak at the moment and haven’t lost at home all season, winning three times and drawing twice. Sirius, on the other hand, have only won two of their five away matches and lost last time out against Varlberg. This makes odds of 3/4 for a GAIS Win or Draw Double Chance look very attractive to me, and I’m backing that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 11/2.
