Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce Betting Tips & Predictions

Both of these teams suffered disappointment in the Turkish Super Lig this season. Galatasaray’s comprehensive 6-0 win over Kayserispor on the final day of the season wasn’t enough to save them from a dismal 6th place finish in the top flight, with their 51 point return being 28 adrift of the winners. Fenerbahce came in five points off winners Besiktas, but after keeping pace with them all season they will be disappointed to miss out and only claim the runners up position.

Galatasaray’s failures are largely down to an awful run of form at the beginning of 2016 which saw them win just one of 12 games in all competitions and endure a nine match winless streak. Fortunately for them they have recently picked their game up and come into this final having won four, drawn two, and lost one of their last seven in all competitions.

Fenerbahce put in a good stint this season, it’s just that Besiktas were better than them on the whole. Their only disastrous period as a Europa League exit to Braga, resulting in an ill tempered end to the game and leading on to a three match winless streak in the Super Lig.

Since then they have only lost one of their eight games in all competitions and have won six times, although the 2-2 draw to Sivasspor on the final day of the season was a bit of a let down.

There’s no doubt who have been the better team this season. Fenerbahce accrued 23 more points than their arch rivals Galatasaray and have only lost three times domestically this season. Galatasaray have lost eight times in Turkey this season, which is wholly unacceptable considering the dominance they are used to exerting and the quality of the opposition.

This makes odds of 19/20 for a Fenerbahce win look very good value for money, so I’m backing that alongside a 2-1 correct score prediction at 15/2.
