      Gazelec Ajaccio vs Marseille Predictions

Ligue 2’s runners up Gazelec Ajaccio were always expected to struggle when they moved into the top flight. It was their second consecutive promotion and one that nobody expected. They have struggled, but they are certainly not out of the race yet. Many expected them to finish rock bottom of the league, but their return of 28 points from 27 games leaves them in 18th position and only a point from safety.

Marseille are in the best of positions. The French giants sit in a disappointing 11th position in Ligue 1, but the ridiculously tight nature of that area of the table means that a win on Sunday could send them as high as 5th. A European qualification position is certainly still on the cards for Marseille, although they will be disappointed to have not challenged for the Ligue 1 title yet again.

      Reasons for Betting Tips

Marseille’s main issue this season has been their lack of goalscoring threat. They have only scored 15 goals on the road this season and have only managed more than one goal in a game twice in their last ten outings. This, coupled with their decent defence, has inevitably led to a host of low scoring game. Each of Marseille’s last five matches have seen Under 2.5 goals scored and only one of their last ten has ended with three or more goals scored.

This struggle was evident in Marseille’s home match against the newly promoted Gazelec Ajaccio as well. The hosts struggled to make the most of their opponents’ inexperience and could only manage a 1-1 draw.

This makes a low scoring game look likely on Sunday, and with Marseille having failed to win any of their last four matches I think a draw could be on the cards as well.
