Georgia vs Andorra Predictions
Georgia host Andorra at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi on Saturday aiming to make it three wins from three in UEFA Nations League D Group 1.
Georgia picked up maximum points along with back-to-back clean sheets in their opening Group fixtures against Kazakhstan and Latvia respectively. Those positive results are part of an extended run of Georgian good form since the turn of the year.
The Crusaders have won five of the six international games they have contested in 2018, adding their recent Nations League victories to wins over Lithuania, Estonia and Malta. Their 1-0 loss in June at a rejuvenated Luxembourg side is the Georgian’s only defeat this year to date.
The foundation of Georgia’s recent success has been built on their robust form at home. Vladimír Weiss’ men have lost only once in ten on their own patch and though the list of opponents they faced wouldn’t blow your socks off, the sequence is still an impressive one.
With little goal-scoring talent in their ranks, the Georgian’s prefer to rely on defensive organisation to win their games. The only two natural strikers named in their squad for their upcoming fixtures, Levan Mchedlidze and Nika Kacharava, have scored just 3 goals in a combined 44 international matches.
Georgia’ opposition this week, Andorra, shouldn’t fear being buried beneath an avalanche of goals then. Considered one of international football’s whipping boys, Andorra have actually made huge strides and improvements in recent years.
Defeats are still plentiful, though hammerings are much rarer things for the Andorrans. In total, Andorra have conceded just once in their last five matches. Their new-found tactical awareness allowed them to secure two draws from their first couple of Nations League fixtures against Kazakhstan and Latvia.
Andorra have only conceded more than three times in a game once in their last thirteen fixtures – further emphasising the leaps they have made. That run of games included clashes with Switzerland (0-3) and Portugal (0-2).
Nevertheless, we expect Andorra to lose on Saturday against a Georgia team playing with confidence at home. The Crusaders recent record of just one defeat in ten when playing in front of their own supporters should provide them with the impetus to go on and beat an inferior Andorra team.
The statistics also tell us that we shouldn’t expect a ton of goalmouth action however. 100% of both Georgia’s and Andorra’s last five matches finished with under 2.5 goals scored in them. For that reason, we recommend coupling the home win with an under 2.5 goal selection to help push your odds to more lucrative levels.
Our correct score prediction is forecasting a 2-0 win for Georgia. The Georgians have kept four clean sheets in a row at home and five clean sheets in six overall.
