Germany U21 vs Serbia U21 Predictions

Germany kicked off their campaign in the Under 21 Euros with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Denmark on Monday. There was good news elsewhere for the reigning champions, as their main rivals in the group lost. Serbia were beaten by Austria, which has set them up for a place in the semi-finals. The Germans are always among the big contenders to win this tournament, so it’s no surprise that their young side has made a great start in Italy. Will that continue in this week’s clash?

Germany breezed through the qualifiers after winning the last Euros back in 2017, with their side for that tournament barely featuring this time around. It’s impressive just how much depth the Germans are building up in international football, while big stars like Leroy Sane have sat out this tournament despite being eligible. Judging by Germany’s start to the Euros, they don’t need the Man City winger as they continue their chase for glory.

The big focal point for Serbia heading into this tournament was forward Luka Jovic, the new Real Madrid striker. He’s been bought up after a brilliant campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, during which his side reached the last four of the Europa League. That means he’s likely to know a few of these German players, while the Germany defence should know how to deal with the Galactico.

However, judging by the opening games, its not the Serbia attack we should worry about. The Serbians were beaten 2-0 by Austria, which is a concern against a Germany side who made a flying start to the group. They racked up three goals, meaning they’ve now scored at least twice in their last nine international matches. That great run has pushed the Germans forward as one of the main contenders to win this group.

Germany were impressive in qualifying, averaging 3.3 goals per game in their 10 matches. They scored plenty on their way to the Euros, while since then Germany have kept up their great attacking record. The Germans look clinical of the offensive, so we’re backing them to pick up an 11th win in their last 13 matches. We’re going with Germany to win and over 1.5 goals to be scored in the game.
