Germany and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Germany have won four straight since losing to Slovakia and have won four of the last five meetings of the nations too, winning both of their previous home encounters. They conceded at home to Northern Ireland and in their final five Nations League games in the last 12 months, so there is a good chance the Slovaks score too.

Germany 2-1

Reason for tip

Slovakia have conceded only twice in qualifying, in a  2-0 defeat in Belfast, and can remain solid until they need to go for the win, which they must. That opens them up to Germany;s quality at breaking the lines and getting crosses in for Woltemade. Back a 2-1 German win because the hosts’ defence can be vulnerable to counter attacks.

Germany vs Slovakia Predictions

  • Germany have won four straight since losing to Slovakia
  • Slovakia boast the best defensive record in Group A
  • Nick Woltemade has scored three goals in his last seven caps.

Germany to seal top spot

Germany head into Monday’s decisive clash in Leipzig knowing a draw against group rivals Slovakia will be enough to secure automatic qualification, but victory would underline their growing momentum.

The hosts have bounced back impressively from their opening 2-0 defeat to Slovakia, winning four consecutive matches and scoring 10 goals in the process.

Nick Woltemade’s brace against Luxembourg showcased his sharp form, and the Newcastle striker looks set to play a key role again. With injuries to Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rudiger, Germany have had to shuffle their lineup, but Florian Wirtz and Leroy Sane provide plenty of attacking quality.

Slovakia pose a threat on the break

Slovakia, coached by Francesco Calzona, remain stubborn opponents. They edged Northern Ireland 1-0 last time out thanks to a dramatic late goal and have conceded just two goals in five qualifiers. Milan Skriniar anchors their defence, while David Strelec offers a threat on the counter.

Germany’s superior firepower should prove decisive, but Slovakia’s resilience means they are likely to get on the scoresheet. That makes it worth siding with Germany to win and both teams to score, with Woltemade an appealing anytime goalscorer option.

With Slovakia’s defensive record and Germany’s attacking depth, a tight contest is expected. A 2-1 victory for Germany is the correct score selection in Leipzig.
