      Getafe vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions

The 1st leg resulted in a 2-0 Rayo win thanks to 1st half goals from Alhassane Bangoura and Patrick Ebert and it gives them a bit of breathing space to come into this game with. Certainly Rayo Vallecano are now the strong favourites to progress and they have enjoyed life at this ground in recent years, winning on 4 of their last 5 visits in the league.

Both sides survived relegation fairly comfortably last season but it is looking tougher for both this time around. Rayo Vallecano are in the relegation zone as it stands but Getafe are only 1 point better off and in truth a cup run in a competition that neither are likely to possess enough quality to win, might not be what either manager really needs.

It’s just 1 win in 8 matches for Getafe now and Rayo come into this game following 3 consecutive league defeats so neither are in good form.

Certainly we can expect to see much-changed sides here and it might give one or two players a chance to grab a starting berth in the league. Getafe are at the Mestalla on Saturday while Rayo travel to the Bernabeu on Sunday so with tough games coming up it is unlikely many senior players will be risked. They are both going to need as many fresh legs as possible at the weekend given you’d imagine both clubs will have to do a lot of running and chasing the ball.

Given Rayo’s recent joy on this ground and the confidence the 1st leg victory will have given them they should be able to see the job through here and backing them to avoid defeat on the night at 5/6 looks to be worth a punt.

The two sides drew 1-1 here in the league only last month and a repeat result looks very plausible here and can be backed at 11/2.
