Gibraltar vs Scotland Predictions
- Gibraltar have failed to score in their last 12 internationals
- Scotland have not won any of their last seven matches
- Steve Clarke’s side have scored more than twice in just two of their last 29 away games
Gibraltar clash should be glorified training session
Scotland are perhaps understandably taking things easy in the run up to the Euros and they should routinely see off Gibraltar on Monday, less than two weeks before they get the summer extravaganza under way with a clash against hosts Germany in Munich.
The difference in opposition could hardly be more stark as Gibraltar have established themselves as one of the weakest nations in the international game and they have not tasted victory since they claimed successive wins over Liechtenstein and Andorra.
They have failed to score in their last 12 games, including a 14-0 thrashing by France and a 6-0 defeat to the Netherlands, so it is difficult to see them putting up much resistance in what should be a comfortable run-out for Steve Clarke’s side.
Scots may not be going at full throttle
Even the most optimistic Scotland fan would be pushed to describe their team as being on a par with France and the Dutch, but perhaps a notable comparison could be with Ireland, who beat Gibraltar 4-0 and 3-0 in their two Euros qualifiers.
Correct-score punters may wish to veer on the more cautious side of those results and a 3-0 win could appeal as a fully paced effort seems unlikely with the tournament so close to hand and the visitors may not need a second invitation to take their foot off the pedal if things go their way early on.
