In truth, this is a bad game of football and a game in which finding an angle is particularly tough. This game sees League One’s worst home team take on the side with this third worst away record. It’s hard to make a strong case for either of these sides given their relative plights this season.

The Gills need to turn things around fast

Gillingham are currently 10 points from safety and if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop this season, they are going to have to put together a string of wins sooner rather than later. They haven’t won in 15 games and their last win was against 23^rd placed Doncaster. The Gills have drawn nine times this season and I think there is a good chance Tuesday night’s game could take that number into double figures.

Shrewsbury grateful for anything on their travels

The Shrews are in danger of getting dragged into the relegation scrap. Following Morecambe’s surprise 3-2 win against Wycombe on Saturday, Shrewsbury are now just three points above the drop-zone. They will have their sights set on three points against bottom side Gillingham but may have to settle for a point and given their struggles on the road this season, it’s a point they may be grateful for.

I am having a hard time splitting these two sides and can’t see how anyone can have a particularly strong opinion on the outright winner of this game. As such, I will put up the draw as my main selection, it’s a result that both sides may settle for. A draw would address Gillingham’s recent string of defeats and it would be a point closer to securing safety for The Shrews. In the correct score market, I will predict this to finish 1-1.
