Go Ahead Eagles vs FC Den Bosch Predictions
These two teams could only be separated by goal difference at the end of the Eerste Divisie regular season, but it’s Paul Beekmans’ Den Bosch who head into this Play-Off clash on better terms. The Blue White Dragons won their final two league games including a 2-0 success over Go Ahead at Stadion De Vliert a fortnight ago – a result which condemned Eagles to their third defeat on the bounce. Will that victory propel Beekmans’ side to another win this Sunday or will Go Ahead reverse the form at De Adelaarshorst?
The Play-Offs are often a lottery, but momentum and recent head to head form often counts for plenty in these games and it’s Den Bosch who definitely have the edge on both fronts here.
Overall, The Blue White Dragons endured a pretty miserable second half to the campaign which included a run of just two wins from 15 at one stage, but they ended the regular season on a high with back to back 2-0 victories against Roda JC and this weekend’s opponents Go Ahead.
The arrival of new boss Paul Beekmans has clearly had an impact on the team who were toiling for a long time under Wil Boessen, but they will now be feeling like promotion is achievable again having topped the Eerste Divisie standings at the halfway point this term.
Den Bosch have a dangerous front four including Stefano Beltrame and Sven Blummel who have both hit double figures this season, and they were somewhere back to their best in that 2-0 success against Eagles just two weeks ago.
Eagles have the benefit of home advantage for this 1st Leg encounter however their form at De Adelaarshorst has tailed off rapidly in recent times. After winning seven of their first nine outings in Deventer this term, they managed to win just four of their remaining ten home fixtures and they go into this Sunday’s clash having lost three of their last five in front of their own fans.
They were mauled 1-4 by RKC last time out in Deventer and confidence has to be low in the Eagles’ camp after three consecutive defeats overall – despite the fact that they secured their Play-Off place some time ago.
A two week break and fresh focus on these crucial matches may well have freshened John Stegeman’s squad up, but they certainly look opposable for the win here based on recent form and the fact that they haven’t beaten Den Bosch at home since 2012.
So with the visitors seemingly back on the up, we’re going for Den Bosch in the double chance market here at around evens as we think they’re capable of grabbing at least a draw to take back to s-Hertogenbosch in midweek. This could be a fairly cagey opening 90 minutes, so 0-1 is our correct score prediction in favour of the away side.
