Granada 2-1 @ 11/1

Reason For Granada vs Celta Vigo Predictions

  • Granada have accrued 25 points from their 12 home league games this season (W8, D1 and L3).
  • Celta Vigo have won just one of their last 24 La Liga matches on the road (W1, D8 and L15).
  • Nazaries ran out 0-2 winners at Balaidos when the sides met in September’s reverse fixture.

Will Granada be focused on the job?

This Saturday’s La Liga action concludes with a fascinating clash at Los Carmenes, as Granada look to bolster their excellent home record this season against a Celta Vigo side who are fighting to beat the drop.

The visitors have made giant strides towards preserving their La Liga status in recent weeks, but they remain one of the worst travelling sides in the top flight, which doesn’t bode well for them here.

Granada have won eight of their 12 matches at Los Carmenes this term including four of their last five, and they boast the fourth best home record in La Liga with 25 points amassed from their dozen starts.

And after breaking a run of eight consecutive away defeats with an easy 0-3 success at Osasuna last weekend, Granada surely rate as a good thing for this Matchday 26 contest, assuming that their minds are fully on the job.

Diego Martinez’ charges square off against Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Copa Del Rey Semi-Final five days after this Saturday’s fixture, which naturally poses a niggling doubt as to whether Nazaries will be fully revved up for Celta’s visit to Los Carmenes.

Celta on the up but away wins remain elusive

Celta will certainly be hoping that the Copa will be a distraction for their opponents, as they seek to post just their second away league win since December 2018.

Celestes have won one, drawn eight and lost 15 of their last 24 matches on the road, so it’s difficult to see why they are disputing favouritism for this Saturday’s encounter, especially considering how strong Granada have been at Los Carmenes since returning to the top flight.

Admittedly, Oscar Garcia’s side have been turning things around in recent weeks, banking seven points from a possible nine to move two points clear of the relegation zone.

Last weekend’s 1-0 home win against Leganes was hugely impressive in the circumstances after Celta were reduced to ten men just 20 minutes in, and the result backed up a superb 2-2 draw at Real Madrid and a 2-1 victory against Sevilla at Balaidos.

But Celta’s lack of victories on the road over a sustained period of time means they are poorly priced here at around the 7/4 mark, despite the possibility that Granada could make some changes in preparation for their Copa showdown against Bilbao.

Granada the value call this Saturday

Diego Martinez may well rotate his squad for this Matchday 26 encounter, but that possibility has more than been factored into Granada’s odds.

Nazaries are worth supporting at around the 7/4 mark to land their ninth home league win of the season, and the hosts will surely want to maintain their momentum going into their Copa showdown with Bilbao, where they will be aiming to overturn a one goal deficit from the first leg.

After beating Celta 0-2 at Balaidos in September’s reverse fixture, Granada will expect to get the job done here despite the visitors’ recent resurgence, and we think the home side are worthy of a two point stake.

We do expect it to be a close contest though, so we’re also tipping up a 2-1 correct score. Granada have conceded in five of their last seven home matches while Celta have netted in all but one of their last eight on the road.  We can definitely expect goals at both ends based on those stats, so 2-1 looks a highly feasible outcome with Granada fancied to grind out yet another victory at Los Carmenes.
