Greuther Furth vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions
- Greuther Furth have scored just two goals in four home games.
- Just three of Frankfurt’s 10 league matches have featured over 2.5 goals.
- Frankfurt are averaging a goal a game in the Bundesliga.
Striking a balance
Oliver Glasner’s Eintracht Frankfurt were victorious again in Europe in midweek securing a 2-1 win in Greece to move four points clear at the top of their Europa League group. They would have expected a European position again this term in the Bundesliga but that hasn’t transpired with Die Adler struggling to carry their form into domestic matches.
Frankfurt are seven points off the continental places and find themselves level with Augsburg in the relegation play-off position. The visitors have established themselves as the draw specialists in the division with six through 10 games.
Remarkably their only league win came at the Allianz Arena against record champions Bayern Munich at the start of October.
Furth faltering
It hasn’t been a pleasant return to the Bundesliga for Greuther Furth. Just like their only other top-flight campaign, in 2012/13, this looks set to be a long one. The Cloverleaves finished bottom that year losing 21 of their 34 games and it is going to be an arduous task to prevent something similar from occurring again.
They have lost nine of their 10 matches with their only point coming at home, albeit against fellow strugglers Arminia Bielefeld who played a portion of the game with 10-men.
Stefan Leitl’s side have suffered heavy defeats to Freiburg (3-1) and RB Leipzig (4-1) in recent weeks and narrowly lost out to Bochum (1-0) in their most recent home game.
Keeping it tight
Furth’s only saving grace is the fact that in their home games they tend to keep themselves in the contest. The hosts have conceded 27 goals this season but only seven of those have been let in at home. Frankfurt, meanwhile have been struggling without last season’s top scorer Andre Silva and they couldn’t get the better of the labouring Bochum or Bielefeld on their travels so this one will be tighter than expected.
Frankfurt will be wobbly considering they played in midweek but their league position isn’t a true reflection of where they are at so I’m expecting them to get the job done here with a narrow 1-0 win.
