Grimsby Town vs Colchester Predictions

The start of the new season may be fresh for all fans and they will all welcome it’s return, but a few games in and there are already certain sides who will be feeling the pressure as they are not performing to the level which is expected of them. That is certainly true of Colchester United as they will have been hoping they were strong enough to win promotion but with a slow start to the campaign, they know that they need to overcome Grimsby this Tuesday if they are to kick themselves into action.

Defeating Grimsby Town will be no easy feat for the visitors as they have developed a typically robust system which sees many opposition sides struggle to breach their defences. The Mariners opened the campaign in an excellent manner as they secured a 2-0 victory over a Morecambe side who are expected to struggle, and although that is their only win in the league so far, they have booked their spot in the next round of the Carabao Cup following their 1-0 win away at League One Doncaster last week.

Making the trip to Blundell Park is a Colchester United side who will know that they have it all to do if they are to accomplish their goals this season and a slow start to the campaign is hardly the ideal way to go about it. The U’s only managed a point on the opening day of the season and with a 1-0 loss at the hands of title hopefuls Plymouth Argyle in their next game, things quickly began to look bleak. Although they triumphed against Swindon in the cup, Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Cambridge United brought them back down to earth with a bump.

Blundell Park is not exactly known for being a venue which provides plenty of goals and it is not something we expect to change on Tuesday night. The hosts typically keep things tight at the back and try to grab a goal at the other end and given that their visitors are not exactly firing on all cylinders at the moment, we think that backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored represents the best chance of a decent return.
