Things don’t get any easier for Groningen

The loss of Jorgen Strand Larsen seems to be taking a massive toll on Groningen this season as they’ve made their worst start to an Eredivisie season than at the same stage of 11 of their last 12 campaigns. As such, they occupy a spot in the relegation zone and that’s certainly not ideal as they welcome title-chasing PSV.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men lost 1-0 away to Arsenal on Thursday night, but there is certainly no shame in going down by such a slender margin to the Premier League leaders. The Eindhoveners have scored 17 times across their last five games and should be back to their firing best against much more manageable opponents here.

When PSV win in the league, they are often convincing. Five of their eight Eredivisie wins this season saw margins of at least two goals, with the talented squad clearly emulating their manager’s ruthlessness from his playing days.
