      Guarani vs Gremio Predictions

It’s been an impeccable start to the Libertadores as far as these two are concerned. The hosts, Guarani, picked up a 1-0 win away at Deportes Iquique in the opening round of fixtures, before seeing off Zamora 3-1 on home soil. Meanwhile, their opponents, Gremio, defeated the Chileans 3-2 at home and won 2-0 in Venezuela. That  leaves both sides with a perfect 6 points from 6 and takes a degree of pressure off this one, with both teams having one foot in the knockouts.

The two are not only enjoying success on the continental front, but also domestically. Guarani currently lie in 2nd place as they look to retain their title, sitting 5 points off Libertad but with a game in hand, whilst Gremio have the opportunity to advance to the final of the Gaucho State League, with their semi final tie with Novo Hamburgo finely poised after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

This should be a close, entertaining game. Both sides can be fairly relaxed coming it, possessing a 6 point margin for error.  Guarani take to the field off the back of two consecutive home wins, whilst Gremio are unbeaten in their last five all together. The two will undoubtedly be keen to secure three points that would have them all but through into the last 16, and that should help to create an open, end to end game of football.

The hosts’ fan base has not been short on entertainment this year, with both sides finding the net in all six games played before their eyes, as well as an average of 4 goals a game being scored and that trend is not something we see changing here.

Gremio posses some fine attacking talent, and the likes of Luan, Bolanos and Rocha are sure to give Guarani plenty to think about. At the other end the Brazilians have not been all that impressive lately, having almost chucked away a 3-0 lead against Iquique, and having done so in the 1-1 draw with Hamburgo.

Backing both nets being hit seems a good idea, perhaps in a 1-1 draw that wouldn’t be all that disastrous for either side.
