Experienced Elephants could triumph

While Guinea lost to Zimbabwe in a shock result in their final group game, they had already done enough to qualify prior to that game in keeping clean sheets against Malawi and pre-tournament favourites, Senegal (W1, D1), which raises questions around motivation for that clash.

It is now crunch time for Guinea, who are looking to end their run of three straight defeats without scoring in reply in AFCON knockout games as they prepare to face tournament debutants, Gambia.

Scorpions looking to sting Guinea

Gambia did very well to come through their group relatively unscathed (W2, D1) which included a win over former champions Tunisia. However, they now face a side they have never beaten competitively in their first ever AFCON knockout game.

Although the African minnows are enjoying something of a purple patch, I predict that the experience of this Guinea squad should see them through at a value price. This is likely going to be a tight affair, so I am going for a tentative 1-0 victory for Guinea for the correct score prediction.
