Hamilton Academical vs Aberdeen Predictions
Hamilton Academical’s winless streak extended as they drew at Partick Thistle on Saturday, but after their 83rd minute equaliser confidence will have been boosted. They have now drawn three games in a row, losing the two before that and placing them 10th in the Scottish Premiership table.
Their 1-0 win over Ross County at the end of August is their only league victory of the season, but at home they have only lost one of their four matches. The win against Ross County was at home and they’ve followed that with 1-1 draws against St Johnstone and Inverness CT.
One major issue with Hamilton Academical is their complete absence of goal-scoring threat. Their top scorer this season is defender Alistair Crawford with four goals to his name, all of which have come away from home. At the SuperSeal Stadium none of their players have scored more than once this season, so they could find it difficult against a notoriously difficult to break down Aberdeen side.
Aberdeen weren’t in action in the Premiership this season as they contested the Scottish League Cup semi final, beating Championship side Greenock Morton 2-0 courtesy of second half goals from Adam Rooney and Kenny McLean. This took Rooney’s goals tally to five for the season domestically, putting him ahead of Niall McGinn who has four to his name. Three of Rooney’s goals have come in the league, and all of them have been away from home so he is definitely the danger man for the visitors. Backing him to score anytime at evens with bet365 looks a good option.
This victory on Saturday made it six in a row in all competitions for Aberdeen after a rather dodgy start to the season. This has pushed them to within four points of league leaders Celtic and taken them to the League Cup Final, so things have definitely started looking up for Aberdeen.
Four of Aberdeen’s last five matches have seen them keep a clean sheet, including each of their last two away days in all competitions. They have also kept a clean sheet in five of their last six matches against Hamilton Academical. This doesn’t spell good news for a Hamilton Academical side who have only scored four home goals this season, and it makes odds of 13/8 for Aberdeen to Win to Nil look excellent value. I’m going for that along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 13/2.
