Hamilton vs Aberdeen Predictions
- Hamilton have failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 of their 13 home games this season.
- Aberdeen have seen both teams score in four of their last seven away days, as well as in eight of Hamilton’s 13 home ties.
- The hosts have scored 1.1 goals and have conceded 1.4 on average at New Douglas Park, with their opponents scoring the same amount and letting in 1.3 goals on their travels.
Accies flirting with relegation
Hamilton come into this game on the back of a five-game winless run following another heavy thrashing, losing 4-1 to Rangers in the Scottish FA Cup over the weekend. The Accies are also winless in their last four Premiership games, where they’ve lost four and drawn once.
The South Lanarkshire side have also only won once in their last nine games at New Douglas Park, although at times they have been unlucky to not pick up points. Hamilton have also managed to score at least once in nine of their 13 home ties this season, but they’ve also only kept a clean sheet once – on the opening day of the season.
Dons winless in six
Aberdeen picked up a third goalless draw in their last four games as they were unable to overcome Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup. However, Derek McInnes’ side have only lost two of their last eight games, although the Dons aren’t performing up to standard and are in real danger of losing third spot to Motherwell.
Aberdeen are also winless on the road in their last six games, although they have only lost twice. They’ve also struggled to score goals in recent weeks and the side are one of the lowest-scoring away from home in the league, netting just 1.1 goals on average. Things aren’t any better in defence, as the Dons have conceded 1.3 times on their travels, keeping a clean sheet on just three occasions.
Stalemate in South Lanarkshire
Both teams come into this game in dreadful form and needing points for opposite reasons. Despite losing 4-1 to both Celtic and Rangers in the last week, Hamilton put in good performances on both occasions and the scoreline did not reflect their effort levels.
However, the Accies need to clean up at the back if they’re to mount a serious bid for survival; but it’s a tough ask, given they’ve only kept a clean sheet once at home this season. Aberdeen haven’t done much better on the road either; they too need to get back to winning ways before third place eludes them.
We believe both teams to score is a good option here, as it has happened in eight of Hamilton’s 13 home games, as well as in four of Aberdeen’s last seven away days. We’re going to back a 1-1 correct score prediction too, as Hamilton have scored 1.1 goals and conceded 1.4 times per game on average at New Douglas Park. Aberdeen have netted the same amount while conceding slightly less – 1.3 goals – on their travels.
