HB Torshavn vs Motherwell Predictions

• Both teams have scored in five of HB’s last six home matches
• HB will be boosted by the return of two players denied visas for the first leg
• Motherwell looked shaky at the back once HB came out of their shell at Fir Park

HB will attempt to rub out Well’s lead

Motherwell may not have it all their own way on Thursday when they travel to Torshavn to face HB in the second leg of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie. The Faroe Islands’ outfit became a bit of a handful for Alfred Johansson’s men when they came out of their shell at Fir Park last week.

They were two goals down by then with Lukas Fadinger having doubled the lead that Martin Moorman gave the Steelmen in spectacular style, albeit HB keeper Bjarti Vitalis Mork may not have been in the right position and saw the shot rather late.

But, in HB’s first game in Europe since a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Brondby at this stage of last season’s competition, the Faroese team recovered and had two good chances to reduce the deficit.

Motherwell held on for a clean sheet and are now the big favourites to progress, but they will face a much stronger side this week. Two HB players were denied visas to enter the United Kingdom, but both ex-Motherwell striker Moses Ebiye and fellow African Amidou Diop can play in this one.

Both teams have scored in five of HB’s last six home matches and that looks as good a bet as any for this contest, which should see the hosts start in attack mode. Motherwell scored in eight of their final nine Premiership matches last term and don’t appear to have changed their approach much, despite the new head coach.

They were as brave on the ball as they used to be under Jens Askou in the first leg, but equally prone to the odd hairy moment at the back because of their commitment to playing out on the deck.
