Hearts began their return to the Scottish top flight exceptionally well, winning their first five on the bounce to pick up where they left off when they decimated the Scottish Championship last term.

A trio of defeats brought them back down to earth, but then they picked up against and went on an eight match unbeaten streak in the Scottish Premiership.

But they are struggling to win. They have only taken away three points once in their last seven outings in the league, although to be fair to them they have only lost once in the last 13 Scottish Premiership matches.

Hearts are still in a decent 3^rd position in the table though, with six points between them and 2^nd placed Aberdeen and the same gap between them and 4^th placed St Johnstone, although the latter side do have a game in hand.

Aberdeen themselves are only three points adrift of perennial leaders Celtic, but the Scottish Champions also have a game in hand.

Aberdeen have also struggled to win on a few occasions this season, although their struggles aren’t quite on the same level as Hearts’.

They have drawn their last two matches, but they remain unbeaten in their last eight Premiership games and have won five times.

This unbeaten streak brought an end to their disastrous period in which they lost five and drew one of six matches in all competitions. It is that run that allowed Celtic to reclaim their top spot in the table.

Aberdeen have won both of their matches against Hearts this season, with the first being a 3-1 win away from home back in September and then a 1-0 home victory in December.

I think Aberdeen have what it takes to beat Hearts a 3^rd time and progress in the Scottish FA Cup this weekend, although they are away from home against a side with the capability to hold the visitors off.
