Hearts vs Celtic Predictions

Hearts enjoyed an exceptional start to their first season back in the Scottish Premiership, and that turned out to set them up for the remainder of the season. They haven’t been as impressive in the second half of the season, but they built up such a large lead in 3rd that they could afford to drop a few points.

They have wrapped 3rd position up now, leading St Johnston by 14 points with just 12 remaining to play for. However, a good run of form in the final four games could potentially see them move into 2nd position, although the eight point deficit will be hard to make up on Aberdeen.

Hearts aren’t in the greatest of form at the moment either, and they might just have given up on a runners up position. They come into this match having won just one of their last five outings, with three losses to their name.

Celtic have almost done what is expected of them every single season. They lead 2nd placed Aberdeen by 11 points, meaning that a win on Saturday would ensure that the Scottish Premiership title returns to Celtic Park. They could even wrap the silverware up with a defeat should Aberdeen fail to beat Motherwell.

Despite their imminent league success, Celtic will feel a bit disappointed by the season as a whole. Their arch rivals Rangers knocked them out of the Scottish FA Cup in the semi finals a couple of weekends ago and they also failed in the League Cup. The Champions League was a complete disaster and they were shocking in the resulting Europa League campaign as well. Add this to the fact that they aren’t in particularly good form and they have been challenged by Aberdeen for longer than usual and this can be classed as a bit of a poor season.

Celtic have only won one of their last four matches in all competitions, with two league draws and a penalty shootout defeat making up the rest of their results. Before this they had won four on the trot though, and they remain unbeaten in normal time in their last 13 outings.

Hearts have only lost one of their last 12 matches at the Tynecastle Stadium as well, including a point against Celtic, while the visitors have only won four times in their last nine outings away from home. This makes odds of 5/4 for a Hearts Win or Draw Double Chance very good value for money, and I’m backing that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 7/1.
