Both teams to bag in mid-table scrap

An evenly-balanced affair could be on the cards between Hearts and Motherwell – the two clubs that currently stand astride the split line in the Premiership. Hearts are sixth in the table after a run of only one win in five and far too many goals conceded for manager Robbie Neilson’s liking.

The Jam Tarts have shipped 13 goals in their last five, including four apiece in home games against the Old Firm. They got back to winning ways last time out, but even conceded in that 2-1 victory at Ross County – a team that had scored just two goals in their previous six league matches.

Motherwell have picked two away wins in the last month under Steven Hammell, but both of those were against the current bottom two. They came with clean sheets, but the Fir Park side are not particularly solid defensively, having conceded 16 times in 13 games.

1-1 draw suits the state of clubs’ respective records

They are a useful attacking side, however, with no team in the bottom half having scored more and only three clubs in the table having registered more shots on goal this season.

They should be backed to trouble Hearts’ leaky defence on Sunday. Both teams to score should be a profitable way in here given it has landed in four of Hearts’ five home league games already this term and in three of Well’s last six on the road.
