Hearts vs Motherwell Predictions
- Hearts have failed to win four of their last six home Premiership matches
- Motherwell have picked up form with two wins and two draws in their last four games
- Hearts were well beaten by Motherwell earlier this season
Steelmen can keep Hearts under the pump
Motherwell are capable of prolonging Hearts’ stay in the Premiership’s bottom two by leaving Tynecastle with at least a point on Thursday. Stuart Kettlewell has transformed teh Steelmen into a physically robust team that are very hard to beat.
Rangers would pay testament to that after just about salvaging a 2-2 draw from Sunday’s trip to Fir Park while Celtic were struggling to break Motherwell down before a dodgy penalty decision eased their path to a 4-0 win on Boxing Day.
Suffice to say, second-bottom Hearts are not in the same class as the Old Firm and will struggle to overcome the Lanarkshire side at home, where they have failed to win four of their last six Premiership matches.
Jambos need to pick themselves up
They were beaten 2-1 in the Edinburgh derby in their last Tynecastle clash and contrived to draw 2-2 with relegation rivals Ross County on Sunday, despite taking a two-goal advantage into stoppage time.
Without captain Lawrence Shankland because of a calf strain, Hearts lacked leadership and calmness in the closing stages when the Staggies put them under the pump. They will need to pick themselves off the floor quickly to have any chance of winning this and it may prove too much for Neil Critchley’s side.
