Reason For Hearts vs Motherwell Predictions

Motherwell will make the trip to the capital where an 11th-placed Hearts side will host them at Tynecastle. Can the Jambos pick up their first win of the season?

Hearts continue to struggle in the Scottish Premiership and their situation has become almost desperate. Craig Levein’s side has failed to register a single win so far this season in the league, and they were almost able to clinch one in their most recent game against Hamilton before the international break.

The Jambos opened the scoring in the 20th minute thanks to Sean Clare, but some confusion amongst the Hearts defence allowed Hamilton to equalize 5 minutes into the 2nd half. Christophe Berra would put Hearts ahead once again, only for George Oakley to complete his brace with 15 minutes to go.

Elsewhere in the table, Motherwell has started their season off brilliantly, despite having failed to win 3 games on the trot earlier on in the month. After a disappointing 0-0 draw to Motherwell on their initial Premiership fixture, the Steelmen went on to lose 5-2 to Celtic and then crash out the League Cup at the hand of Hearts.

However, they overcame Hamilton with ease in the Lanarkshire, beating their rivals 3-1. Just before the international break, they picked up another win, defeating Hibs 3-0 at Fir Park. Sherwin Seedorf opened the scoring for Stephen Robinson’s side in the 25th minute, and the scoreline would remain untouched until Liam Donnelly doubled the hosts’ lead 10 minutes from time. Jermaine Hylton then added the icing on the cake 6 minutes later and wrapping up all 3 points for Motherwell.

This is a must-win game for Hearts, as Craig Levein’s future at the club hangs in the balance. Regardless of the outcome, the Jambos would do well to move on from the ex-Scotland boss, as the Edinburgh club hasn’t improved in the slightest since last season- and their failure to win a single game is proof of that. Motherwell comes into this game in good form, winning their last 2 games and scoring 6 goals in the process. Moreover, the Steelmen haven’t lost away from home since the end of July in a friendly against Crusaders, winning 6 of their following 7 fixtures- drawing the other 0-0. We’re backing the visitors to extend Hearts unbeaten run here with a comfortable 2-0 win.
