      Heerenveen vs NAC Breda Predictions

Heerenveen need a couple of positive results from their last two games of the season if they are to claim a top half finish, starting with a win at home against already relegated Breda. The visitors sit bottom of the division with twenty-two points from their thirty-two games and, with just six points left to play for this season and Emmen ten points ahead of them in fifteenth, their season is already over.

Heerenveen took the lead twice at home to VVV last time out, but the teams shared the spoils at the final whistle. Vlap opened the scoring for the hosts in the twenty-eighth minute with a goal that separated the sides at the interval. Early in the second half Grot equalised for VVV, but Valp restored Heerenveen’s lead in the seventy-fifth minute with his second goal of the game. That strike looked to be enough for the hosts to claim all three points, but in the eighty-ninth minute Steijn rescued a point for the visitors as the scoreline ended 2-2. Breda were thrashed in their own backyard by Feyenoord in their last match, managing just 31% of the overall possession and mustering just three shots during the ninety minutes. Two goals in each half from the visitors made it a very convincing win for Feyenoord, and condemned Breda to relegation from the Eredivisie.

Neither Heerenveen nor Breda head into Sunday’s match in good form, but their head to head record suggests the hosts have a great chance of returning to winning ways and keeping a clean sheet this weekend. Heerenveen have won three of their last six matches against Breda, and each of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet. The hosts have kept five clean sheets in their last seven matches against Breda, but both teams have been struggling for form and have one win apiece from their last six matches. Breda haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine matches, have lost their last two away games, and have failed to score in two of their last four Eredivisie matches, while Heerenveen have only lost one of their last seven matches at home. Heerenveen are in need of a win and a clean sheet as they attempts to push claim a top half finish, and you couldn’t pick a better opponent than the side that look certain to finish bottom of the table.

Vlap leads the way for Heerenveen with sixteen league goals this season, but is closely followed by teammate Lammers who has fifteen. Breda’s top scorer te Verde had a poor second half to the season, but sits on ten Eredivisie goals and has been one of his sides better performers. We’re confident that Heerenveen will win to nil on Sunday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0. The hosts have a good record of wins and clean sheets against Breda over the last few seasons, one that we’re expecting to continue on Sunday.
