Houston, we have a goal threat

Inconsistency means Houston Dynamo currently sit just outside the play-off positions in the MLS Western Conference, with three wins and four defeats across their last seven matches summing things up for Ben Olsen and his side.

However, while it is hard to fully trust Orange Crush in the match result market, their games do usually provide plenty of goals, with six of their last nine fixtures seeing the back of the net hit at least four times, including this month’s 4-3 win at San Diego FC.

The goals have also tended to flow in Houston’s recent meetings with Vancouver Whitecaps, as three of the last four head-to-heads have surpassed the 3.5 goal mark, while both teams have scored in each of the last six encounters

Vancouver’s defence is struggling

Vancouver only conceded six goals in their first nine away matches in MLS this season, but that tally has doubled across their last two road fixtures in the competition following back-to-back 3-0 defeats at Colorado Rapids and Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Whitecaps have lost four of their last five matches in MLS, a run that also includes a 5-3 defeat to San Diego FC, while they were also thrashed 5-0 by Cruz Azul in last month’s CONCACAF Champions Cup final.

With their defence looking shaky, Vancouver could be left exposed against Houston, with a 3-1 home win looking an interesting option in the correct score market, given four of the Dynamo’s last nine matches have finished in that manner.
