Huddersfield vs Preston Predictions
Huddersfield have picked up a bit in recent weeks with crucial wins coming away at Birmingham and at home to fellow strugglers Rotherham. However those are their only wins in the last 10 and they have lost 5 of their 7 matches since David Wagner took charge.
The Terriers are looking better going forward at least and have scored in all of their last 4 games but found themselves 3-0 down in half an hour at Brentford last weekend and with no realistic route back into the match. They are 3 points outside the relegation zone still but unless they improve considerably at the back it’s hard to see them really pulling away from trouble.
They could do worse than look at Preston for some inspiration. The Lancashire club have the best defensive record outside of the top four and have turned themselves into a side that is really tough to beat and a good run of form has seen them move 7 points clear of the bottom three.
They were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at Leeds time out, especially when you consider they were reduced to 10 men after just 31 minutes when Jordan Pickford saw red and they had chances to level after going behind to an own goal. Prior to that Preston had lost only 1 of their previous 11 in the Championship and they’ve conceded just 5 goals in their last 12 matches.
For that reason the visitors look well worth backing to at least avoid defeat here at 4/7 and it could be a frustrating afternoon for the Terriers.
The Lancashire club do draw more than they win though and lack the firepower to consistently kill off teams so consider backing it to finish 1-1 at 5/1 rather than an outright Preston victory.
