Tip Reasoning

  • Huddersfield have won seven of their last 11 home Championship matches.
  • Swansea have lost six of their last ten Championship away games.
  • Danny Ward has scored three times in his last four league appearances.

Terriers are too talented for struggling Swans

Huddersfield Town can maintain their improbable promotion push by taking another three points at home to struggling Swansea City this weekend. The Terriers have been tearing teams – and some good ones – apart over a seven game unbeaten run that has sent them up to sixth place in the Championship table.

Swansea have endured a sinking feeling over the same period as Russell Martin’s COVID and injury-hit squad have slipped down to 17th, albeit with games in hand over most of the teams just above them.

But given the form of these two clubs, it would seem foolish to predict anything other than a home win at the John Smith’s Stadium. Huddersfield have won seven of their last 11 home Championship matches, including victories against fellow promotion contenders West Brom and Blackburn.

In-form Ward can weigh in with a goal

Swansea have avoided defeat in just four of their last ten away Championship fixtures and only one of the teams they took points from has more points than their lowly tally of 22 right now.

The Swans’ main struggles have come at the back with 15 goals shipped in their last six league games, but they have scored in each of their last five, so could trouble the Terriers at the back. The odds on the straight home win are good enough, however, without risking anything on both teams scoring too – although our preferred correct score play here is a 2-1 home win.

Huddersfield hitman Danny Ward – with three goals in his last four league games – looks a bit of value in the anytime goalscorer betting too.
