Tip Reasoning

  • Huddersfield have avoided defeat in six of their eight Championship games this season.
  • West Brom have failed to win four of their last five Championship contests.
  • West Brom have scored in six of their eight away Championship fixtures.

Tough-to-beat Terriers can test slack Baggies

West Brom are just starting to lose contact with their automatic promotion rivals and with a defeat at Huddersfield on Saturday highly likely to leave them nine points off second place.

It looks like a tough test on paper with the Terriers coming into this one with three wins and a draw to show from their last four home games.

Contrastingly, Valerian Ismael’s men have lost their last three league games on the road, leading the Baggies boss to bemoan ‘individual errors’ and order compilation videos of them to be shown at analysis sessions.  Albion lost centre-back Matt Clarke to injury in the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough prior to the international break, so there will be another reshuffle required for the trip to Yorkshire.

Home side haven’t scored enough goals

Huddersfield are the sixth-best team in the Championship in the points-per-game category at home, having beaten promotion-contending Blackburn and Millwall on their own patch within the last two months.

Their defensive record speaks of a team that are tough to beat, but they don’t score enough goals to ever genuinely look like they could mount a playoff challenge of their own. Hence, the selection of Huddersfield in the double chance market because, no matter how attractive the odds of a fourth home win in five look, we can’t be sure they will punish WBA’s mistakes if they continue to make them.

The Baggies have failed to score in two of their last three road trips, but have bagged in 75% of their away games this season so we feel a 1-1 draw could be on the cards this Saturday.
