Tip Reasoning

  • Hull City have lost their last six home Championship fixtures.
  • Cardiff City have won three of their last five away league games.
  • Cardiff City have scored at least two goals in seven of their last 12 away league matches.

Cardiff can keep run going at hopeless Hull

Cardiff City are finishing the season in the right manner and, on Good Friday, can earn another win against a Hull City team that hasn’t picked up a home point since January. Steve Morison’s side overturned a half-time deficit at Reading last weekend to make it three away wins from their last five and four from six overall.

The Bluebirds aren’t going to be in anyone’s minds when tipping promotion contenders next season, but they have one of the youngest teams in the Championship with scope to improve under a manager that is proving himself capable at this level. And this is a match that they will feel they can win because the Tigers have been pretty tame at the MKM Stadium for several months now.

Shota Arveladze has avoided defeat in only one of his seven home matches in charge, which was his first back in January. Hull are lacking any consistent bite in attack with the recent absence of striker Tom Eaves also a hindrance.

Bluebirds are reliable scorers on the road

That they got a shock win at Middlesbrough last weekend was as much to do with Boro’s shortcomings – particularly in terms of finishing chances – as anything they did themselves. It seems strange for Hull to be made favourites for this game given the recent home struggles, but we are more than happy to weigh in with a bet on the Bluebirds here.

Cardiff have shown to be proficient goalscorers on their travels over a prolonged period of time. They have hit at least two goals in seven of their last 12 away league matches and, with Hull managing no more than one goal themselves in the last 540 minutes of home football, two goals should be easily enough for Cardiff to claim the points.

Our favoured correct score play here is 2-1 because, although Hull are hardly consistent scorers at home, Cardiff have kept only one away clean sheet since August.
