IFK Goteborg vs Hammarby Betting Tips & Predictions

It’s not been the best of starts to the Swedish Allsvenskan for IFK Goteborg. Last season’s runners up have had a rocky start to the 2-16 campaign and come into gameweek 11 way down in 7th position in the table. A win on Monday could take them as high as 4th, whereas a defeat could send them as low as 13th in what it a very tight mid section of the Allsvenskan table.

IFK Goteborg did briefly get back to form recently with a 6-2 win over Gefle spurring them on to win against Djurgarden the week after, but since then they have lost to Ostersunds and, most recently, drawn with champions and leaders Norrkoping.

The hosts will be hoping to pick up a better result on Monday though. The visiting Hammarby are winless in their last six matches in the Allsvenskan and lost lost four of their ten league games this season.

This puts them down in 14th position in the table, although a win would give them a chance of moving as high as 10th in the table, which would be more in line with last term’s 11th place finish.

Three of Hammarby’s four defeats this season have come away from home, which leaves them with a return of just four points from a possible 15 on the road. It’s also worth taking into consideration the fact that Hammarby have lost six of their last seven meetings with IFK Goteborg and haven’t scored a goal against them in that time, a run stretching back eight years.

I can’t see that run ending on Monday. IFK Goteborg may not have been in top form so far this season but they have improved at home recently with a win against Djurgarden and a draw against the league leaders. I fancy IFK Goteborg to win at 8/13 on Monday, and I’m backing a 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1 due to their excellent defensive record against Hammarby.
