IFK Mariehamn vs AC Oulu Predictions

• Mariehamn have beaten league leaders KuPS twice in the last two weeks
• Both teams have scored in the last five meetings between the teams
• Oulu have scored at least twice in five of their seven away games this season

Mariehamn showing signs of fight

Mariehamn are just one point off the foot of Finland’s Veikkausliiga but recent performances suggest they may make a contest of Sunday’s visit from Oulu.

The Islanders sprung a big surprise when eliminating league-leaders KuPS in the quarter-finals of the Finnish Cup last time out, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games.

That came hot on the heels of their away league win at KuPS and they shouldn’t be written off entirely when facing Oulu, despite the visitor’s excellent away record.

Oulu’s attack can break host’s resistance

Oulu have won five of their last six away games in all competitions, chalking up plenty of goals along the way, and only one side has scored more times on the road in the league this season than Ricardo Duarte’s men.

They should find a way through the Mariehamn defence, despite their recent improvements, in a fixture that tends to produce goals, the last five all going over 2.5 goals.

Oulu won the reverse fixture 3-2 at the start of June and were 4-2 winners the last time they made the trip to the Wiklof Holding Arena.

Given the fixture’s history and both teams to score cashing in each of Oulu’s last five away wins, that seems a solid betting option.

Oulu don’t do many draws – three in 14 Veikkausliiga games this season – and they are likely to try and force the issue with a 2-1 win for the away team a nice correct score option.
