Inter Milan vs AC Milan Predictions
The rivalry returns. It’s early season and the clash between Inter Milan and AC Milan holds significant meaning for both clubs. They were both touted as serious contenders entering the 2015-16 season, at least for places in European football anyway. Both clubs need to honour their history with a return to Serie A prominence after a period of poor performances in the league table.
They’ve each put their faith in a relatively young core and there have been signs of that youth in AC Milan’s play so far. They pressed too hard for the ball in the opening weekend loss to Fiorentina and even in the game against Empoli, there were mistakes and signs of carelessness uncharacteristic of former AC Milan teams.
For AC, picking up points over their next four games (Inter, Palermo, Udinese and Genoa) feels quite essential. They need to build momentum and they need to establish themselves in the Serie A table.
It seems that there is a strategy to play quite deep this season, specifically the midfielders de Jong, Bertolacci and Nocerino are actively apart of the defence. The result is a team that plays slower and more compact football.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan have started the season with two straight wins, but it’s difficult to judge how much should be read into wins over Atalanta and Carpi. There’s definitely an international flavour to this Inter Milan side, but they’ll line up in a similar formation to AC Milan. Guarin and Kondogbia have a little more license to get forward and Inter will look to push the ball wide a little more often.
The match-up against AC Milan is an opportunity to learn a lot about Inter Milan after they played well, but didn’t electrify against inferior opposition in their first two games.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Odds
This is going to be a tightly played football game. Neither side will give an inch. Nothing from Inter’s opening couple of games suggests that they can break this game open and we like the close to even odds on the AC Milan Double Chance.
2. AC Milan might have the edge
Early results have shifted the results, but we think that AC Milan’s natural game might actually give them a slight edge here. If we had to take a winner, we’d probably take them, if only because of the benefit gained from that lesson against Fiorentina, have Inter been tested yet?
3. Roberto Mancini is predictable in big games
This is a big game and we all know how Mancini will play it. It’ll be a little too cautious and a little too predictable and an experienced manager like Siniša Mihajlović will take advantage.
