Inter Milan vs Cremonese Predictions

Nerrazzurri desperate to respond

Just as they did last season, Lazio inflicted Inter’s first defeat of the Serie A campaign with a 3-1 triumph in Rome on Friday, leaving Simone Inzaghi’s men with six points from their first three outings. With Inter smarting from that reverse and having won six consecutive home matches, newly promoted visitors Cremonese could be in for a long evening on Tuesday.

Inter could count themselves unfortunate on Friday, creating twice Lazio’s expected goals tally (1.6 xG to 0.8) and amassing 19 attempts. No Serie A team had bettered their tally of 6.6 xG for the season as of Sunday, and their record at San Siro is truly fearsome. Inter have scored three or more goals in five of their last six at home, beating a -2 handicap in three of their last five. Inter also averaged 2.53 goals per game at home last term, and that was before the return of Romelu Lukaku.

Cremonese have been competitive on their Serie A return, losing all three of their games by a one-goal margin, but six concessions across those fixtures does not bode well for Tuesday. The visitors have given up an average of 23 shots per game so far this season, and they allowed Roma to create 3.3 xG against them on their last road trip – the highest tally recorded in any Serie A game this term.

Heavy defeat awaits Cremonese

Though Cremonese have been unlucky with the fixture list and will have faced Fiorentina, Roma, Inter, Atalanta and Lazio by the time they are seven games into the season, their defence looks unsuited for this level, and there is no tougher place to go than San Siro.
