Inverness CT vs Motherwell Predictions

Inverness CT fell to an expected defeat away to Rangers on Christmas Eve, and with other teams around them succeeding in gaining some festive points this has pushed the hosts to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. There are only three points between 12th and 7th though, so a win would probably free them of propping up the table for at least a couple of days.

A win doesn’t look particularly likely though. Their defeat to Rangers made it five losses and three draws since their last win, and that victory was only one of three in their 19 league games so far this season. However, they can take solace from the fact that, that win did come against Motherwell.

The visitors aren’t in particularly great form either. Their 3-1 loss at home to Aberdeen on Friday made it five games without a win and they have only won two of their last 12 outings in the Premiership.

This leaves them 10th in the table, so a defeat here would send them bottom and a win could send them as high as 6th. If this continues in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership we could be in for a thrilling relegation battle.

Away from home things don’t get any better for the visiting side. Their last victory on the road came on the opening day of the season against Kilmarnock, and since then they have lost five and drawn three of their eight matches.

Inverness CT may be struggling for victories but they have at least only lost two of their last eight home matches, winning two and drawing four. The majority of their success has been courtesy of striker Losana Doumbouya. The 26 year old is Inverness CT’s top scorer this season with five league goals, and with four of them coming at home he looks a good choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at 6/4.

Motherwell have their own star player in Louis Moult though. The visiting striker has bagged eight league goals this term, and although he has struggled away from home he’s still a good bet at 6/4, especially since Inverness CT are yet to keep a clean sheet at home.

This brings us to our main backing, which has to be for Both Teams to Score at 4/6. The hosts have seen this come in,in eight of their nine home games and haven’t kept a clean sheet at home this season. Motherwell have seen both teams score in five of their eight on the road, but two of their failures to score have come against Hearts and Celtic. I’m going for a 2-1 win for Inverness CT at 15/2 for my correct score predictions as well.
