Tip Reasoning

  • Ipswich are unbeaten in their last 11 games
  • Cambridge have won one of their last eight away league matches
  • The reverse fixture finished 2-2 at Abbey Stadium in October

Ipswich likely to maintain unbeaten run

Ipswich’s win at home to Plymouth last weekend is currently the best performance on Kieran McKenna’s CV to date. Prior to that, The Tractor Boys hadn’t beaten anyone to note under McKenna’s stewardship – Plymouth were the first side that currently occupy a top six spot that Ipswich have beaten this season. In fairness to Ipswich, they are unbeaten in 11 matches and have been afforded a great opportunity to extend that run against a Cambridge side that look to have turned it in for the season.

Cambridge have struggled since cup exit

Cambridge United’s season has really run out of steam following their exit from the FA Cup. A 3-0 defeat against Luton ended what was a remarkable run in the competition which saw them knockout Newcastle United at St. James Park. Since then, it has been bleak for Mark Bonner’s side, who have been conceding at free-will of late, particularly on the road – Cambridge have conceded 15 goals in their last five away matches, they look to have their work cut out on Saturday against a confident Ipswich side.

Punters will likely be put off both teams to score market in this one because of Ipswich’s recent defensive record. However, I think there is cause to be optimistic of goals in this one. Cambridge United’s away matches this season have seen 63 goals been scored in 20 games, the reverse fixture finished 2-2 at Abbey Stadium and with this being a free hit for Mark Bonner’s side I am hoping we can expect more of the same at Portman Road on Saturday. The main selection for this one will be Ipswich to win and both teams to score in the match. In the correct score market, I will chance this finishing a 2-1 home win.
