Ipswich vs Fulham Predictions
Fulham come into this game on the back of a 5-0 mauling at Brighton on Friday night when their old defensive problems reared their ugly head. They have the 3rd worst defensive record in the league with 72 goals conceded in 42 matches this term and they only have 1 away clean sheet all season. On a brighter note the Londoners had won their three previous games to fire themselves clear of danger and they could secure their survival on Tuesday night if they can pick up a result at Portman Road.
Ipswich’s form is not great and they have gone 5 matches without a win. In normal circumstances their 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend would have been viewed as a good result but they really needed to win it to get back into the race for the play-offs. They remain 8 points shy of the Owls who are in 6th place and this match certainly falls into the ‘must win’ category for the Tractor Boys with games fast running out. They have kept clean sheets in 3 of their last 5 home games though and must feel if they can do the same here they should win this given Fulham’s awful defensive record.
The hosts have a bit more all-round quality that could see them edge this. Fulham are very dependent on their front two to dig them out of holes and were it not for the goals of McCormack and Dembele they would be in deep deep trouble right now. If Ipswich can keep them quiet they should get the win and their recent record against Fulham is excellent. They’ve won all 3 matches against them since Fulham were relegated from the top flight two seasons ago. Therefore backing Ipswich to win at Evens looks the way to go here.
