Ipswich vs Gillingham Predictions

  • Ipswich are unbeaten in their last four home matches
  • No win for Gillingham in their last nine away matches
  • Gillingham haven’t scored on any of their last four visits to Portman Road

Ipswich hoping to bounce back from Hillsborough loss

Ipswich have certainty made great strides under Kieran McKenna since he took over from Paul Cook who departed in December. The Tractor Boys will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and have been afforded with a great opportunity to do so against second bottom Gillingham.

Ipswich had lost one of their last five games prior to last weekend’s defeat at Hillsborough and have been impressive at home of late. Ipswich are unbeaten in their last four games at Portman Road and have a good recent record against Saturday’s visitors at this ground. Ipswich are unbeaten in their last four on home soil against Gillingham.

Hard to be inspired by Gillingham despite Harris appointment

Neil Harris’ appointment as Gillingham came as a surprise to many. Many people would have had Harris pencilled in for a much more attractive job given his exploits as Millwall boss in the Championship. Harris’ first game as Gillingham boss was a 1-0 victory against Crewe on Tuesday, a win that doesn’t inspire much confidence given how dreadful they have been recently. Gillingham haven’t won any of their last nine away matches and they haven’t scored on any of their last four visits to Portman Road, they look to be in for a tough afternoon.

The main selection for this game will be Ipswich Win to Nil. Gillingham haven’t scored on any of their last four visits to this ground. It’s hard to make a case for them doing so on Saturday given the torrid time of things they have endured on the road this season. For my correct score prediction, I will go for a 2-0 home win in what I expect to be a comfortable afternoon’s work for Kieran McKenna’s men.
