Ipswich vs Leeds Predictions

This is a big game for Leeds, who have been very inconsistent of late and are coming under a bit of pressure, with teams like Norwich and Fulham in pretty good form just outside the top six. It won’t be an easy one either, as Ipswich have looked much better in recent games and this is a match that promises to produce goals at both ends.

That has been the case in 53% of Leeds’ away league games this term. All of their last 5 and 7 of their last 8 away Championship games have seen both teams score. That is evidence to suggest that while their attacking threat has increased as the season has progressed, they’ve been a bit more vulnerable at the back, with injuries and suspensions certainly playing a part in that.

However, up front Chris Wood has continued to provide the killer touch that Leeds fans hope could fire them back to the Premier League after more than a decade away. The Kiwi has scored 8 goals in his last 8 Championship appearances, to take his league tally for the season to 19. Given that, backing Wood to score anytime again looks like it’s worth a punt here at 11/8.

Much like Leeds, Ipswich games have tended to produce more and more goals as the season has gone on. They come into this match after two really good results on the road at Villa and Brighton but they’ve been leaking goals and struggling for wins at Portman Road of late. They’ve kept just 1 clean sheet in their last 10 home games and have conceded twice or more in each of their last four home outings in all competitions. That suggests Wood and Leeds should bag at least one goal here.

However, Ipswich have also scored twice or more in 4 of their last 5 games at home and with Leeds not at their best defensively, backing Both Teams to Score at 10/11 looks to be the way to go here.
