Israel vs Moldova Predictions
- At least four goals have been scored in five of Israel’s seven World Cup qualifiers
- At least four goals have been scored in four of Moldova’s seven World Cup qualifiers
- Both teams are eliminated and have nothing to play for
Goals on the cards in Chisinau
Israel should have too much firepower for Moldova in both nations’ final World Cup qualifying match in Chisinau after they won 4-0 at the same venue earlier this year. That was Moldova’s home match in Group I, which has been all but sealed by Norway with Italy in second place.
This is Israel’s designated home game, but has been switched for political reasons and looks likely to be another exercise in experimentation for head coach Ran Ben Shimon. He named a mix-and-match line-up that featured regular stars like Oscar Gloukh and Dan Biton alongside some fringe players for their 0-0 friendly draw against Lithuania in Kaunas on Thursday.
The Sky Blue and Whites did not get out of first gear on a low-key night in which goalkeeper Omri Glazer, in for first-choice Daniel Peretz, was their top performer.
Key players missing for Israel
Israel’s squad is shorn of several regulars for varying reasons with Peretz out because of wedding festivities, striker Tai Baribo absent because his wife is expecting while Manor Solomon and Muhammed Abu Fani nurse injuries.
But they can still overpower a poor Moldova side that had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping the score respectable against Italy on Thursday. The Azzurri, who are not going through a good spell, enjoyed 77% possession and registered nine shots on target and 13 corners in Chisinau.
Israel may not cut quite as much as a swathe through the Moldovan defence but they have been involved in enough high-scoring qualifiers recently to suggest this contest features four or more goals.
