Crvena Zvezda to edge a tight affair

Kairat Almaty overcame Maccabi Haifa in the previous qualification round to reach this point of the competition. The standard increases dramatically here though and this will be a big step up for the side. Domestically, they have struggled slightly and are currently five points behind the current leaders with the title looking unlikely at this point.

Crvena Zvezda qualified for this stage of the competition following their Serbian Super Liga win last season but their defence of the title got off to a less than perfect start following a goalless draw at the weekend. They have experienced a loss in any competition since October 2020 though, when they were beaten in the Europa League group stage.

This looks as though it could be a really interesting match with the visiting side coming in as favourites but things should be quite tight in this first leg match. Neither side will want to give much away and, as a result, we’re backing this tie to finish with under 2.5 goals.
