      Kairat vs Bordeaux Predictions

Kairat’s impressive European football run continued as they kept Bordeaux to a 1-0 victory in western France last week. It means that the surprise package of Europa League qualifying so far still has a real chance to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Striker Gohou is a handful and it was obvious that Kairat’s defence and midfield were up for the physical contest with Bordeaux’s more experienced units. The Ligue 1 side controlled the flow of play and perhaps could have won by more, but there was enough in the game to encourage the underdogs and they seemed to find space between Bordeaux’s midfield and defence, they got a lot of shots off from range because of that room.

A mediocre 0-0 draw with Lille at the weekend prolonged Bordeaux’s so-so start to the Ligue 1 season. Manager Willy Sagnol will want to avoid drama on Thursday night. He just needs his side to play solidly and secure qualification to the next stage of the competition. It might even provide a plateau for improved performances moving forward in Ligue 1 play.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bordeaux approaches this game. They’re a little on the negative side naturally and Sagnol will have taken note of some of the pace and potential of Kairat’s advanced players. Still, an away goal would go a long way to securing the tie.

      Three Reasons for Betting Tips

      1. Bordeaux’s experience

It’s not necessarily a squad stacked with European football experience, but there is enough and more importantly it’s a club with that pedigree. It’s for that reason that our betting tips are not predicting a major upset, even if the French favourites aren’t playing great football.

      2. Attacking potential of Kairat

We like a game where both teams score goals, mainly because Kairat definitely has attacking potential. They’ll be forced to chase the ball a little again on Thursday night, but Gohou is capable of making things happen, while Islamkhan, Spain’s Sito Riera and Brazil’s Isael are players to watch up front. Kairat play with plenty of width, but Sito Riera and Isael can both also cut inside.

      3. Goals are needed

Kairat will play with an urgency that reflects a team that needs to score goals and we wouldn’t be surprised to see Sagnol gamble a little on the away goal. This won’t be a boring game, stifled by tentativeness.

      Draw 1-1

We’ll give Kairat a valiant and highly impressive 1-1 draw, but we can’t see Bordeaux surrendering three goals and we do see them getting on the board, so it’s the French side that will play in the Europa League group stages.
