Kalmar vs AIK Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Kalmar were starting to improve in form as they approached the summer break in Sweden Allsvenskan play. They were hoping to improve on their 13th place finish last season which saw them end just six points above the relegation playoff position, and they look like they are in the right mindset to do so.

They have played three friendlies during the break, beating Djurgarden and Elfsborg before losing to Iraq, and in the Allsvenskan they have won two and drawn two of their last four games to give them a very respectable return of eight points from a possible 12.

This has moved them up to 9th position in the table after a rather slow start to the league campaign, but they are still just three points above the relegation playoff position that Hammarby occupy. A win on Sunday could move them up to 6th though.

AIK missed out on the chance to retain their Allsvenskan title last season and Norrkoping beat them and Goteborg to the finishing line, extending their six year wait for another Swedish title. They ended up finishing in 3rd position with five points fewer than the champions thanks to a complete collapse in form towards the end of the campaign.

They look set to be challenging for that top spot again this season, currently sitting in 4th position with five points fewer than leaders Malmo and two fewer than 2nd placed Norrkoping.

AIK did lose twice quite early on in the season, but they have recovered from these early setbacks well and come into this game unbeaten in their last ten in all competitions and with six wins from their last eight competitive outings. Most recently they beat Bala Town 4-0 on aggregate to progress in the Europa League.

Away from home AIK have won four of their last five in all competitions, but both of their earlier defeats came on the road as well. They did manage to find the net in both of these though, and they have scored in every away game they have played this season, but have also conceded in all but one of their Allsvenskan trips away.

Kalmar have found the net in each of their last five home matches in the Allsvenskan too, but themselves haven’t kept a clean sheet at home all season. This forces my prediction for the game over to both teams to score, and odds of 4/6 for this outcome look fair considering the statistics of both teams. I’m also going for a 2-1 win for AIK at 9/1 for my correct score prediction.
